2018 South Texas Scholastic Chess Championship
The Texas Chess Association, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation, established under Section 501(c) (3) of the IRS code, whose purpose is educational and instructional in promoting interest in chess in the State of Texas. TCA is hereby released from any liability associated with the event. TCA rules will be in use for this tournament.

Kinder/First (K-1), Primary Championship(K-3), Primary JV(K–3U700), Elementary Championship(K–5/6), Elementary JV (K–5/6U800), Elementary Novice(K-3U500) Middle School Championship(6–8/9), Middle School JV(6–8/9U900), High School Championship(9–12), High School JV (9-12U1000)
Round Times & Clock Settings: All byes must requested before 2nd round.
K-1 Championship, Primary Champ/Primary JV, Elementary Champ/JV/Novice, Middle School JV, and High School JV.
Time: Saturday: 9:30 am, 12:05 am, 2:25 pm, & 4:40 pm.
Sunday: 9:30 am, 12:35 am, & 3:15 pm.
Clock: SATURDAY: Game/45 with 5 sec delay for delay capable clocks. Game/50, no delay for non delay clocks.
SUNDAY: Game/60 with 5 sec delay for delay capable clocks. Game/65, no
delay for non delay clocks.
Middle School and High School Championship.
Time: Saturday: 9:00 am, 12:30 am, 3:30 pm, & 6:20 pm.
Sunday: 9:00 am, 1:00 am, & 4:10 pm.
Clock: SATURDAY: Game/60 with 5 sec delay for delay capable clocks. Game/65, no delay for non delay clocks.
SUNDAY: Game/75 with 5 sec delay for delay capable clocks. Game/80, no
delay for non delay clocks.
Registration: Bughouse and blitz will only be onsite registration. See website. Only email Registration and payment fee $40.00 is due by Feb. 9, 2018, 5:00pm.$60.00 if received/paid/ postmarked after Feb 9, 2018. Incomplete entries or entries submitted without payment or PO will be charged the late fee.Last day to request a refund is Feb 16, 2018, 5:00pm with a $10 charge. You must submit your entries on complete batch form. Batches located on website.
Late entries may receive a 1st round ½ point bye. There will be no faxes, phone registrations, or substitutions after Feb. 9. USCF membership is required of all players. Membership renewal will be provided and verified. Food sales will be available. Free holding rooms will be assigned and skittle room provided in cafeteria.
Late registrations with payments can be made Friday onsite 5-7 pm or Saturday morning 7-9 am onsite.

Awards: All participants receive medals.
Kinder-Elementary, Middle School / High School:
Trophies to the top 15 teams in each section. Individual trophies to top 20 players in each section. Plus Score Awards for individuals who don’t trophy but score 4 points.
A team consists of a minimum of 2 players. Top 4 players’ scores in each section count towards team scores.
